about
SELENE, a Greek restaurant in SoHo
Selene is a modern Greek restaurant at 23 Grand Street in SoHo, New York. It was founded by Reno Christou, known for the Greek restaurants Kyma and Avra, and James Ragonese. Named for the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene serves Aegean cooking centered on seafood and seasonal ingredients: whole fish grilled over charcoal or baked in sea salt, crudos, a seafood tower, mezze and refined Greek classics, with Mediterranean cocktails and a wine list rich in Greek bottles.
The restaurant spans about 10,000 square feet across three floors. Its atrium has a retractable roof that opens to the sky among olive trees, and a garden terrace sits alongside. The interiors are by Greek architect Theodore Kondylis, with furniture, ceramics, lighting and textiles made in Greece.
